IDENTITY CRISIS AND ITS ROLE IN AMPLIFICATION
OF SOCIAL DEVITALIZATION OF PERSONALITY

SUMMARY:

The paper deals with identity crisis as a state determined by the changes in social environment of the 19th -20th centuries and the destruction of a mechanism allowing people to establish their belonging to a certain group. Identity crisis exhausts a person by the necessity of searching for the answer to the question “Who am I?” Such a state has arisen because of the identity’s loss of stability, conservatism of the structure which was a set of psycho-age characteristics which gradually replaced each other. In the development of social devitalization, identity crisis acts as a source of impulse of searching for aspects by the personality, which provide his/her internal organization. In a situation of social devitalization, a personality hopes for social revitalization after overcoming the state of identity crisis.

INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOLOGICAL PECULIARITIES OF
ADVENTUROUSNESS ACCORDING TO EMOTIONAL TYPE

SUMMARY:

The paper deals with the peculiarities of adventurousness in persons with different types of emotionality. Emotionality is one of the psychological factors determining the adventurous behavior. The selection of this factor is due to the cornerstone impact of emotionality on the structure of personal qualities. The empirical research was based on Adventurousness Inventory (by O. Sannikova, O. Sannikov, N. Melenchuk) and Four-Modality Inventory of Emotionality by O. Sannikova. According to the research outcomes there have been found significant positive correlations with the “joy” and “anger” modalities, and negative ones – with the “fear” and “sadness” modalities. Besides, it has been revealed that people for whom the emotions of “joy” and “anger” patterns are more peculiar, are more prone to adventurous behavior, as compared to the persons with “fear” and “sadness” patterns. Emotionality affects the structure of adventurousness and determines its specificity.

PECULIARITIES OF COPING BEHAVIOR OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND
THEIR ANTICIPATION SKILLS IN POST-TRAUMATIC SITUATIONS

SUMMARY:

The paper aims to study the peculiarities of coping-strategies of young people and their anticipation skills in posttraumatic situations. The main task of the research is to examine personal coping-resources of young people and their impact on the process of social interaction, acquisition and application of adaptive skills which determine the conscious selection of stress coping strategies. The experiment involved 160 respondents (58.1% men and 48.4% women) aged from 20 to 30. The survey was based on the structured clinical interview (SCID) with the Clinically Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS), Impact of Events scale (IES-R), Traumatic Stress Inventory, Self-Attitude Inventory, Social Communicative Competence Method, as well as Life Style Index (LSI), Strategies of Avoiding Crisis Situations Inventory (SACS) and Multidimensional Scale of Perceiving Social Support (MSPSS). In has been found that the respondents tend to use emotion-focused variants of coping strategies (avoiding, emotional release, ignoring) which are less efficient as compared to problem-focused coping strategies. The limited application of cognitive variants of coping strategies results in insufficient efficiency of overcoming post-traumatic stress disorders by young people. The structure and components of coping behavior of young people and their anticipation skills in stressful situations have been considered as follows: at the personal level: expressed internal discomfort, negative self-attitude, high anxiety level, emotional instability, immature coping skills, etc.; at the interpersonal level: insufficient communication skills, social detachment, limitedness or absence of social support and experience of social interaction, decrease of flexibility and mobility of social behavior. Further research studies are planned to cover the opportunities of using correction programs for overcoming post-traumatic stress disorders in different age and profession groups, as well according to the nature of traumatic/catastrophic events.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FACILITATION IN SUCCESSFUL ADAPTATION

SUMMARY:

This paper presents the data concerning the connectedness of the facilitative potential components, its manifestation in different fields of vital activity, basic senses of helping behaviour and socio-psychological adaptability. Based on the results of multiple regressive analysis, there has been established the importance of all facilitation aspects in order to predict personality adaptability. It has been proved that persons with developed facilitation have a higher degree of adaptability (on the sample of socionomic professions). The study of the peculiarities of adaptation directly in a complex life situation which is the process of accommodation to a foreign environment that can be combined with the beginning of family relations and is a rather tense and difficult period in subjects’ lives has shown the importance of the facilitative ability in the success of its course. The obtained data provide valuable information on possible ways to increase the individual adaptivity through the development, formation of their facilitative potential, as well as the facilitative qualities of the social environment.
