INVESTIGATION OF THE MEDIATING ROLE OF
SELF-ASSERTIVENESS IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN
COGNITIVE EMOTION REGULATION AND MARITAL ADJUSTMENT
SUMMARY:
This study aims to explore the mediating role of self-assertiveness for cognitive emotion regulation and marital adjustment. The carried out experiment involved 205 respondents (165 male & 38 female) aged from 22 to 55 years who were selected by cluster sampling method. In order to collect the data, the Assertiveness Questionnaire of Shilton and Broughton (1993), the Cognitive Emotion Regulation questionnaire of Garnefski (2001) and Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) of Spanier (1976) were used. The research results have proved the mediating role of the variable of “assertiveness” for cognitive emotion regulation and marital adjustment. Cognitive positive and negative emotional regulation through self-assertiveness has both direct and indirect effects on the marital adjustment. The variable of selfassertiveness has a significant mediating role for cognitive emotion regulation and marital adjustment. According to the research results, it is recommended for counselling centers to use workshops and trainings of assertiveness to promote the marital adjustment of couples. Besides, family welfare counselling centers should implement positive emotion regulation trainings to enhance the marriage compatibility.

PSYCHOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF INNOVATIVE POTENTIAL OF A PERSONALITY
SUMMARY:
The article is devoted to the theoretical substantiation of the psychological structure of the innovative potential of a personality. The concept of the “innovative potential of a personality” is reviewed from the perspective of two phenomena, namely “innovation” and “potential”. The innovation is considered as a result of innovative activity, which includes creation, development and use of the new. The potential is conceived as a system of opportunities, productive forces, reserves and resources, the extent of which, hypothetically, to a greater extent depends on the personality, and to a lesser extent – on external factors. The innovative potential is a dynamic integrated set of social and psychological characteristics of a personality that determines his/her capacity for creation, development and use of the new, and as a result of its implementation it will fulfill the needs of the society and will produce further socialized development of a personality. The following structural components of the innovative potential of a personality are highlighted: “environmental” (social, material and spiritual) and personal (motivational and value, cognitive, creative, emotional and volitional, and regulatory) resources.

METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF PSYCHOLOGY GENESIS
SUMMARY:
In a retrospective apprehension, the article presents the emergence of scientific psychological thought from the standpoint of methodology as intellectual toolkit of effective application of methods, forms and means of research practice in the system of relations “human – world”. Methodological “filters” optimize scientific researches in the socio-psychological sphere, and customize the essential and structural-functional filling of the personal perception of the worldview as the system result of human cognitive activity – psychological knowledge. Historical development of the human as a subject of cognitive activity is defined through mental efforts in singling out oneself from the general world as a system-spanning correlation of people, things, events, concepts, under the pressure of external conditions of social interaction and is crystallized in distinctive personal worldview, imbued with canonical ways of its being – awareness, integrity, vitality, action, reflection. Psychological understanding of the surrounding reality by the human is carried out through subjective optics of perception of the time and space of personal being and, at the same time, objective evaluation of its rational-sensitive vision of the environment in which the search of sign systems of personified worldview is carried out. Here, the main role is played by a methodology that defines the contours of the ordering of psychological knowledge, products of thinking and social experience of mankind, and becomes a means of implementation of the reflexive thinking activity in the cognition of reality. Psychological thought includes the prototype of the idea of unity of a man and the world. With accumulation of life realization experience, this image gets relative independence in the form of views and opinions. This worldview as an ordered system of knowledge generates awareness of its belonging to the surrounding reality, comprehension of its social and role-playing activity, a deep understanding of the relationship of reality phenomena and creation on this basis of new meanings and ideas. The main channel of cognitive activity is thinking, aimed at understanding the human being essence.
