MANIFESTATIONS OF VALUE ORIENTATIONS IN PERSONS DEPEND ON THE LEVEL OF INTER-ETHNIC TOLERANCE
SUMMARY:
The article examines the manifestations of value orientations in individuals with different levels of interethnic tolerance. We define interethnic tolerance as an integrative quality of a person, based on a positive ethnic identity and manifested in respect for representatives of other ethnic groups, with whom communication is established through means of intercultural interaction. Interethnic tolerance is manifested in endurance, self-control, and willingness to communicate constructively, even in the face of cultural differences or unusual social influences. This form of interaction prevents conflicts, reduces tension in interethnic relations, and promotes social cohesion. In this context, tolerance functions as a value system that reflects the moral maturity of an individual and their ability to recognize the equality and dignity of every person. Values, being internally learned regulators of behavior, form the basis of social activity, guide the individual in choosing life strategies, and determine semantic priorities. They are formed not through external imposition, but as a result of personal experiences and experience acquired in the process of active interaction with the surrounding world. Value orientations, as core elements of the worldview structure, play a crucial role in forming an open attitude towards cultural diversity, contribute to overcoming prejudices and forming a socially responsible personality in a multicultural environment. The correlation analysis showed the presence of statistically significant relationships between the indicators of value orientations and the indicator of interethnic tolerance. The next step was to build profiles, which allowed us to provide psychological portraits of groups of people with different levels of interethnic tolerance.
