ENHANCEMENT OF TRAINING BACHELOR-DEGREE STUDENTS MAJORING IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION ACCORDING TO THE PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT MONITORING
SUMMARY:
One of the urgent issues of physical education is the determination of individual’s physical development in the process of his/her ontogenesis. The article is aimed at defining the role of monitoring physical development of students and opportunities of its implementation for the enhancement of the educational process at the faculty of physical training. The following methods have been used in the research: theoretical – review of the scientific literature, empirical – anthropometric and physiometric studies, methods of statistical processing. The research involved 120 first-year students (at the beginning of the academic year) and 144 first-year students (at the end of the academic year) aged from 17 to 20 years. Some minor positive changes of the indicators of physical development of first-year students during the academic year have been detected (namely positive changes of the chest circumference at rest and while breathing). However, the following indices remained stable: height, weight, lung capacity and back strength. The revealed dynamics of students’ physical development is considered as satisfactory if only because there are no negative changes, which have been recently acknowledged in scientific literature. In order to develop the rating scale, which could be used in the educational process at the faculty of physical training, according to the results of 17-20-year-old students’ physical development, a regional normative table has been worked out. It will make it possible to determine the level of students’ physical development and take measures for its improvement, and besides to enhance the educational process and students’ self-education.
