THE PARTICULAR FEATURES OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING
AT TECHNICAL FACULTIES UNDER MODERN CONDITIONS
SUMMARY:
The purpose of the work is to generalize the experience of implementing the system of mastering the English language at Odesa National Academy of Telecommunications. The article briefly summarizes the activities of the educational environment, state authorities and foreign organizations aimed at creating conditions for the introduction of the English language in Ukraine. The need to master the English language is emphasized. Down below are the requirements for the system of mastering the English language, which is implemented at Odesa National Academy of Telecommunications (ONAT), namely: creating an English-speaking environment, teaching English and professional subjects at a high level, both from the point of view of the language and the profession, ensuring a full set of educational literature, the provision of stimulation of teachers and students. The following measures are used to implement the requirements. The English-speaking environment was created not only through teaching ESP, but also by teaching all subjects in English, small groups, active participation of teachers and students in the organization of international events, student conferences, competitions, hackathons, etc., participation in student mobility programs and double diplomas The high level of teaching was ensured by the creation of a high-quality team of teachers due to their previous two-year training and the involvement of native English-speaking teachers. Methodical support of the educational process was created by teachers using modern foreign methods. All types of stimulation of teachers and students were used – moral, social and financial. Some measures are identified, which are necessary to increase the effectiveness of mastering the English language. The need to learn and develop the Ukrainian language is emphasized.
