MOTIVATIONAL AND VALUE DETERMINANTS OF FUTURE
PHYSICAL CULTURE TEACHERS’ PROFESSIONAL BECOMING

SUMMARY:

The paper aims to carry out a psychological analysis of the motivational and value determinants of professional becoming of future Physical Culture teachers. The participants of the study were students majoring in Physical Culture and Sports (n = 52, aged 18-22 years). The structure of values was investigated by means of Rokeach Value Survey in the adaptation of A. Goshtutaz, A. Semenov, V. Yadov. The motivational tendencies of the respondents were examined with the help of the Educational Motives Test in the modification of A. Rean and V. Yakunin. This allowed to evaluate the motivational and value preferences of future Physical Culture teachers in the structure of their personal and professional potential. The assessment of motivational and value preferences was carried out on the basis of a systematic approach, which has made it possible to consider the motivational-value sphere in the context of the integral structure of the individual, in which motives and values are the core. It has been found that 65.38% of the students have chosen the profession of a Physical Culture teacher due to the importance of sports in their lives, and 15.38% - due to the prestige of the faculty. In the general system of values-goals of the respondents, specific life values are the leading ones, and among values-senses – the values of personal professional selfrealization. If the psychological support of motivational and value development based on actualization of the subject position of future specialists, motivation for self-development is organized, the significance of motives and values of personal and professional growth increases. There is dynamics of future Physical Culture teachers’ academic motivation in the process of studying at a university: from the motives of adaptation and self-affirmation at the initial stage of training to self-realization and professional perfection, obtaining professional competences – at its final stage. The effectiveness of professional becoming of a future Physical Culture teacher is determined by his/her personal and professional potential, in which the leading role belongs to motives and values.

PROFESSIONAL MOTIVATION AND JOB SATISFACTION OF
PERSONNEL OF STATE PENITENTIARY SERVICE OF UKRAINE

SUMMARY:

The paper aims to examine the peculiarities of professional motivation and job satisfaction of the employees of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine (SPSU). A special psychodiagnostic toolkit was used in the study, in particular, Personality Motivational Profile by S. Ritchie and P. Martin to measure twelve needs in the field of professional motivation of the respondents, as well as the Job Satisfaction Survey developed by P. Spector, aimed at measuring the state of job satisfaction. According to the results, the main psychological peculiarities of work in the penitentiary system involve the awareness of its low prestige, the conditions of physical isolation, opposition to the criminal subculture, overload, etc. With the help of The Personality Motivational Profile, we have found that the most expressed need of the SPSU employees in the field of work is the need for money and tangible rewards, the need for work structure. The least pronounced are the need for creativity at work, the need for power and influence. Using the technique of measuring job satisfaction with Paul Spector’s Survey, it has been found that the greatest satisfaction the employees get from their colleagues, the significance of their work, and the least one – from rewards for the quality of work and additional benefits. The carried out correlation analysis between every of the 12 needs in the professional field and the gender, age, work experience and job position of the SPSU staff has shown a correlation relationship between the need for recognition and age, and between the need for self-development.

PECULIARITIES OF THE ASSESSMENT OF HYPERKINETIC BEHAVIOR
SYNDROME IN CHILDREN WITH MENTAL DEVELOPMENT DISORDERS

SUMMARY:

Socio-cultural and political crises of modern society inevitably affect mental health of people, though children are considered to be the most vulnerable category. According to the World Health Organization, attention deficit and hyperkinetic behavior syndrome are one of the most widespread mental abnormalities among children, and on average are observed in about 5% of children aged from 5 to 12, which makes the chosen topic relevant and urgent. One of the leading symptoms of preschool children with intellectual disability is hyperkinetic behavior syndrome, which is why the purpose of this research is to analyze the formation of hyperkinetic behavior syndrome in children of senior preschool age with mental development disorders. Its early diagnosis ensures the effectiveness and success of psycho-corrective work, therefore, it is necessary to develop a diagnostic complex that will reveal the first symptoms and will form the basis for further psychological correction. To this end, the following criteria of hyperkinetic behavior syndrome have been distinguished: the nature of motor activity, the level of behavior regulation, proneness to mental stress, the prevailing emotional background and the peculiarities of relationships with peers and adults. For every criterion, diagnostic methods have been selected that include either direct testing of children with intellectual disabilities (Tapping test, “The House”, Renee Hill’s method, The Lüscher Color Test), or experts (educators, speech therapists, psychologists and parents using the method of T. Lavrentyev and T. Titarenko). On the basis of quantitative and qualitative analysis of the obtained data three main levels (low, average, and high) of the development of hyperkinetic behavior syndrome in children of the senior preschool age with intellectual disabilities have been distinguished and their main characteristics have been presented.

EUTHANASIA: IS IT ACT OF MERCY OR CRUEL MURDER?
PSYCHOLOGICAL AND LEGAL CONSIDERATION

SUMMARY:

The article deals with such an ambiguous and complex phenomenon as euthanasia, the legalization of which depends on the answer to the question about its essence. The most complete and meaningful definition of the concept implies that it is a deliberate act of a medical practitioner committed in accordance with the explicitly and unambiguously made request of the patient or his/her legal representative in order to terminate the physical and mental suffering, which is fatal according to medical indicators, and results in his/her death. In this context, there are two opposing views on the essence of the phenomenon: it is either a violation of the right to life or the realization of the right to death. The attitudes of young people to euthanasia as a phenomenon on the basis of “Acme” (for future psychologists and social workers) and “Leader of Law” (for future lawyers) Professional Development Schools, functioning at the Faculty of Law of the Ternopil National Economic University, have been examined before and after implementing a specially designed training program aimed at the development of mercy. As a result, the number of the respondents who believe euthanasia should be legalized in Ukraine, has increased after the training.
